Myob Platform

Hi I'm certainly not new to Myob but have just recently discovered how useful the web browser is. I have always used AccountRight on the desktop. I was just wondering which one most people use. One or the other or switch between both? Thanks!

  • Hey Bechadds,

When it comes to reports, there are a few differences between what’s available in AccountRight and what you’ll find in the browser. You might notice not everything matches up. The browser does offer a bunch of handy perks though, like easy access wherever you are and quicker updates without fussing over installs. If you’re after flexible reporting on the go, the browser’s worth a look. On the other hand, certain detailed AccountRight reports are best accessed from the desktop.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

    Hi JackieW,

That definitely sounds confusing, especially when both versions are showing different GST figures. The difference usually comes down to how each report is built. In AccountRight desktop, the GST report is based on transaction type, while in the browser it’s based on account type, so the same transaction can appear differently between the two. If the file includes transactions with both income and expense lines, the browser GST report is generally the one recommended for preparing activity statements, and it’s best to stick with the same report for the full financial year.

More information here: Why the GST report in the browser is different to AccountRight desktop

Why are the GST Reports different between Browser & Desktop - the same information has been entered and accounts all reconciled.  I ran the Company Data Auditor on the Desktop and everything is correct.  I only discovered this when a client could not lodge her BAS online and we asked the Accountant's office to do it for her.  We sent the figures but the Accountant rang and said they had different figures to us.  I have just spoken to the Accountant's Office and they can no longer access the Online files on their SE as of the last update.  Which figures do we lodged?   Entering the Browser figures into Desktop will only cause more issues.

Thanks so much for getting back to me Earl. I hope it's ok to just ask a couple of other questions on this. So it would be right to expect that reports from either platform would be the same? What would be the benefit in using the browser?

     Hi Bechadds,

Great to hear you’ve discovered the browser option! It’s really up to whatever works best for you, some folks stick with AccountRight on the desktop because it’s familiar and packed with features, while others jump into the browser when they want things sorted in a flash.
