AccountRight

Hi Marlana,

You said "If you’ve ever thought “why doesn’t the software just do this?”. We want to hear it. You might help shape what’s coming next. "

So how does this relate to the thousands of suggestions in the AccountRight Idea Exchange that have been ignored for decades, and recently pretty much voided by the "new improved" forum where only 50 "trending" suggestions were carried forward? I was a beta tester for the BAS lodgement process while at my last job, so I know you do do some research with users, but many of the changes are counter-intuitive for the way we use the software. It feels like the changes are designed for accountants to get the data they want, not for ease of use for day to day data entry.

I can't even get a sales report with a list of invoices to show both due date and paid date on the same report.

Also, in the recent announcement of the upcoming command centre changes, it was said that you have an "ongoing strategy to continue to invest in the AccountRight desktop experience". As a user, it actually feels more like MYOB are trying to phase it out to make us all use the browser version which is missing a lot of features we use.

Is there any intention from MYOB to address all the things that have stopped working in the desktop version, for which we are instructed to use the browser version as a workaround? eg invoice reminders stopped working about three years ago. A workaround should be a temporary fix not a permanent inconvenience.

Some of the single touch payroll stuff involves multiple unnecessary clicks because even though we're directed to the browser from the desktop software, we still have to log in. Again.

How about the emailing receipts option that we were finally promised was "planned and coming by the end of the year" a few years ago, then not long after, we were told, sorry, there's a change of plans, we're not doing this anymore?

Any plans to be able to toggle off the 'invoice summary' that goes out with invoices sent from AccountRight? The formatting is awful for our invoice layouts and gives our customers information we don't want them to see. I would suggest that most people don't even know it's happening. They would only see it if they had a reason to send an email to themselves.

On the topic of customers seeing our internal data without our permission, when will be able to see which customers have chosen to link their files to ours for receiving invoices? And when will be able to stop them doing that. I was told it was offered as a service for your customers, but what about their suppliers who are also your customers, who don't want them to do that? Our invoice templates show a lump sum amount (as per the quotes they are also given) and not the individual GL breakdowns for our internal accounting. But, if they've linked their files, they get our breakdown and we have no way of knowing who they are and can't stop them.

Please stop distributing our internal transactional data to our customers without our permission.

And please fix everything that's broken. I'd be more than happy to have no new features added for a long time if it meant all the little bugs we've been reporting in the forums for years could be fixed.

Are there any plans to improve the export functions, to allow double clicking of field selections, or the option to alphabetise the list to find things easily, or save the settings for exports run on a regular basis?

I'm curious: What software does MYOB use for its own bookkeeping and financial records?

Thanks.

    Hey H-TS

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We know your feedback comes from a place of long term experience with the software.

To your point about the Ideas Exchange, we've been very lucky to have many long-time users contribute meaningful suggestions to the Ideas Exchange over the years however we often heard users were frustrated with the lack of response from MYOB. We've been able to improve and formalise a product feedback loop and had to find a balance between preserving valuable ideas and ensuring a fresh, engaging experience for all users. For example, seeing ideas with hundreds of votes and comments that remain open without updates for over 10+ years can discourage new users from engaging. With a stronger feedback loop in place, the goal is for an Ideas Exchange to be more engaging and responsive for everyone and we are constantly trying to improve our processes when it comes to tracking, responding and acting on suggestions made by the community.

In regards to the desktop vs browser experience point, the browser platform is a core part of the strategy, however this doesn't mean we're abandoning the AccountRight desktop experience. The recent command center update is an example of continued investment in the desktop experience and will act as a foundation for us to implement new features going forwards.

With that being said, you're right to expect that if a feature is broken in desktop that it should be resolved. We are actively reviewing previous issues that have been raised as we develop the product roadmap for the future. We understand frustration can be caused around features that were previously announced and then later deprioritised. In some cases, shifts in compliance requirements may result in us changing direction but we acknowledge these changes should be communicated more clearly and with context and are actively trying to improve on that part through the community forum.

    Thanks Amanda,

I've waited 3 weeks for a reply which still hasn't addressed these points in my original message:
