This was happening to me too & driving me nuts for years. Finally I discovered that quite a few suppliers had our business ABN in the ABN section of the card file. Since many suppliers listed our ABN on the invoice under the customer name MYOB was incorrectly linking our ABN to the wrong supplier code. Our ABN must have been incorrectly entered by the person who originally setup the supplier. Probably a fairly common error people make when Suppliers list both ABNs on the invoice.
Once I fixed the ABN from all the supplier who had it listed in the card file in error & added the suppliers actual abn the problem went away. MYOB still didn't recognise the supplier from the supplier invoice but it at least left the supplier field blank.
