One of our clients also had this happen - settings were definitely NOT on - yet reminder still went out. Do I need to put in a support request for this?

Hi jenniek,
If this was only the notification email, it was part of a known issue and can be disregarded.
If invoice summaries were actually sent to clients, that isn't part of the resolved issue, so that's when a case would be the next step to investigate what happened.
