Employee Full Name in Payroll

I have received notification from a Super Fund that our employee details do not match theirs and could result in the contributions being rejected.

They don't give an explanation but it seems the problem is that the Super Fund uses the employee Full Name including middle name but we only have fields for First Name & Surname.

For this to be an issue 4 weeks before Pay Day Super comes into force seems like amateur hour.

Surely MYOB are updating the fields to include middle names or do we need to do a dodgy workaround?

    Hi XX2

I get how that super fund notification is something people get worried about. Yes, this can happen if the employee details held by the super fund don’t exactly match what’s been submitted through Pay Super. Even something as small as a spelling difference or middle name mismatch can cause a contribution to be rejected.

A good first step is to check the employee’s details in MYOB and compare them with the details the fund has on file, especially:

    • full name
    • date of birth
    • TFN
    • super fund
    • employee membership number

If those details all match and the fund is still expecting the employee’s full legal name including middle name, I’d recommend reaching out to our support team so they can investigate the specific file further. You can reach out by creating a ticket in My Account or connecting with our live chat team through MOCA, our virtual assistant.

Can you please read my post again and answer the question that I actually asked?

I can see that someone else asked the same question 10 months ago and nothing was done about it.

    Hi XX2,

That’s a tricky one, and I can understand why that’d be frustrating.

From MYOB’s side, there isn’t a separate field for a middle name in the employee card. The main details Pay Super relies on are the employee’s first name, last name, date of birth, gender, TFN, super fund and membership number, so those would be the first things I’d double-check to make sure they match exactly with what the super fund has on record.

If the fund is expecting the employee’s full name including a middle name, it may be worth checking with them directly to confirm exactly which fields they’re validating against, as that part is usually driven by the fund’s records rather than an extra name field available in the system.
