Move from MYOB to a new payroll system

Hi MYOB Team,

We are planning to move from MYOB to a new payroll system and would like to know what steps are required from our side.

Could you please advise on the process and anything we need to prepare before the transition especially STP finalisation ?

Thank you for your help.

    Hi TobyFung,

Thanks for posting. Here are some steps to take before you move to another payroll software:

    • Reverse all the pay runs that you did for FY 2025.
    • Make sure that the YTD of all employees under pay history on their card file is zero.
    • Send an update event or a zero payrun for FY 2025.
    • request cancellation of MYOB subs
    • Re-do the pay runs on the new software for FY 2025.

Aside from processing the steps provided, you'll need to finalize your employees with $0 pay in your MYOB STP reporting center. Please make sure to keep your employee's data by taking a backup of your company files before zeroing out everything on your payroll.

    Regards,
    Earl

    Hi Earl,

Thank you for the detailed steps and for outlining the process clearly.

Just to confirm, would you generally recommend moving to a new payroll system at the start of a new financial year instead of mid–financial year, to avoid the need to reverse and reprocess pay runs?

We will make sure to back up our company files before making any changes, and we will review the steps you’ve provided carefully.

    Thanks again for your assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Toby

    Hey TobyFung,

If you’re keen to avoid the hassle of reversing and reprocessing pay runs, then shifting to a new payroll system at the end of the financial year is usually the smoother path. It also gives you a clean slate to kick things off. That said, the timing still comes down to what the business genuinely needs and whether the switch is urgent.

    Cheers,

    Doreen
