And yet, still no explanation of WHY they've suddenly appeared on our settings. While I appreciate Julie's effort and advice, I'm not about to select them to be included on the BAS when I have no idea how or what figures might end up in there since those items are not on our payroll categories list and I don't know what they are.
They shouldn't be there unless we set them up. If it's for a future feature of STP 2.0 (which we've been using for ages already), then they shouldn't be visible to us until it's fully released and we're told about it. We shouldn't be stumbling over random bits and pieces!

A further update to be ignored by MYOB, these categories also appear in the filter list for payroll category transactions [Accrual] report! However, I just checked, and they're still not in the payroll categories list when I go to that option from the payroll command centre.
It's very confusing, and annoying that this is just being ignored!

So these categories have finally suddenly appeared in our payroll category list, but we already HAVE categories for these items (although I have no idea what the FP bit is at the front???). We already have a gazillion unused payroll categories we can't delete because they have been used at some time in the past 20 years even if the related entries have already been purged, and now MYOB has added extras? But at the same time, they're not editable, and they can't be added to any employee cards, they're just there, clogging up our already insanely cluttered list.
Fortunately, I guess, they're still not selectable on standard pays or on the fly when processing payroll, but I just had to waste 15 minutes checking all of that to make sure I don't need to update our procedures to tell people not to use them.
What are you doing playing with our payroll categories? You wouldn't just randomly add a GL account to everyone's file I don't think, so why would you add payroll categories?
If they serve no purpose, why are they visible? :(
EDIT: I've realised the FP probably stands for Final Pay for the new option to process a final pay more easily within MYOB. Still weird. But I guess my rant can be ignored. - Princess_R2 years agoMYOB Moderator
Thank you for your responses. We understand that changes in BAS processes can sometimes be confusing, and we appreciate your diligence in reviewing the information. The additional categories you are observing are a natural outcome of the STP Phase 2 rollout, and we want to assure you that you can safely disregard them.
STP Phase 2 brings about certain enhancements and adjustments to the reporting structure, and these new payroll categories are part of that update. However, they do not require any action on your part, as your existing payroll processes and calculations remain unchanged.
Cheers,
Princess
