Seniors and pensioners wanting to be on No tax free threshold

Payroll: individual tax election: How do I note No tax free threshold and individual wanting to claim seniors and pensioners tax offset

  • Hi Milt

Pensioner and Seniors Offset has been removed from TFN Declarations a number of years ago. When they were included, the offset could only be claimed from this Payer if the Tax Free Threshold was also claimed from this Payer.

Check with the ATO however I doubt PAYG Withholding rules allow you to do what you want.

    Regards

    Gavin

  • Hi Milt

Thank you for your post. I noticed you posted on the AccountEdge board but can see an account linked to AccountRight from the email address listed, can you please confirm whether you are running AccountRight or AccountEdge ?

In regards to the No tax free threshold, when you are setting up your employees tax table there is a drop download list that does have the option for No Tax Free Threshold, the instructions on how to find this drop down list is on the MYOB Taxes article. If you are unsure on which tax table to use for this employee I would highly recommend speaking to your Accountant or financial advisor.

If you are running AccountEdge the article Troubleshooting PAYG tax tables (Australia only) has the instructions on how to find the drop down of tax tables within the software.
