Set up for flex time entitlement

I have employees who are permitted to work in excess of their standard hours in a fortnight and accrue these additional hours as "flex time".  These hours can then be taken in future fortnights where they work less than their standard hours.

I'd like to set up MYOB Teams but am unsure how to setup entitlement and wage categories to manage this.

Our current manual Excel based timesheets automatically calculate the flex time earned and taken each fortnight.

Any ideas on how I could make this work in Timesheets in Teams?  Desperately looking to improve the efficiency around processing my pay roll!

    Hi TAGCRU,

You can try things out with just one or two employees in the AccountRight sample file! You can check this handy link for more info. The demo is set up to let you experiment with all the features, including payroll, so you can really see how it works before making any decisions. Feel free to jump in and test different scenarios, it’s a great way to get comfortable with the system!

    Thanks Sheila.

This is sounding like it might work for us.  Is there some way I can trial it on just one or two employees - even in the demo file?  I'd really like to see how it would work in practice before I recommend to my management team that we change our existing system.

    Hi TAGCRU,

Yes, that's right! The person handling the pay run is the one who’ll put in your staff’s final hours. It’s correct to reduce any extra hours and convert those to flex time as needed. For the flex leave entitlement to accrue properly, you’ll just need to set up a separate wage pay item for it. Here’s a handy link about leaves and entitlements for the process. It might feel a bit fiddly at first, but it’s totally doable!

    Thanks Sheila.

So in practice, would it be that the employees fill out their timesheets in Teams including all hours.  Once approved by managers, payroll staff could amend each individual's hours in the pay run process to reduce hours to total the standard hours and convert the extra hours to a flex leave entitlement?  Sounds a little  messy but potentially do-able?  Does that sound right?

    Hi TAGCRU,

You’re right on the money! The MYOB Team app only picks up base hours, so if you’re looking to add flex time or set things up so extra hours count towards entitlements, you’ll need to pop into AccountRight and do the setup there, as the Team app just doesn’t have that option. See this link for the steps guide. I know it’s a bit roundabout, but this way you can be sure everyone’s hours and entitlements are ticking along just right.

    Cheers,
