STP2 Reporting Error Code

Hi There

 

We have an employee who terminated in September 2023, but has now returned to us in December 2023.  When I processed his pay and reported through Payroll Reporting it came back with this Error Code

 

   Cessation date cannot be before the Commencement Date

   ( ATO error code: CMN.ATO.PAYEVNTEMP.000282)

 

Why did this happen?  Employees leave....and sometimes they return.  It doesn't seem right that I would have to go and cancel his termination as that correctly reflects what occurred.

    Thank you for your post.

     

    The ATO error code CMN.ATO.PAYEVNTEMP.000282 relates to a terminated employee. To fix the error, kindly go to the STP reporting center > Employee terminations tab and make sure terminated employees have a termination reason and the termination date is after the start date.
