Unused Payroll category-

I was using a Superannuation Payroll deduction category for a Superannuation Salary sacrifice deduction- this has worked ok , as I was paying this to the Super Fund myself . Since signing up to MYOB to pay my monthly super payments, this payroll category was not recognized. 

I spoke with an MYOB support person and they advised me to us the  Superannuation category and enter the Salary Sacrifice amount as a deduction. This is being recognized when I paid the super thru MYOB. 

The issue I have, is that even though I have removed the old payroll category from the employees  pay run - it is still showing on the pay slip  when I email out with the old YTD figure up to the change, I did a journal entry with MYOB help to transfer the previous YTD figure into the new payroll Super , the YTD figure on the current pay slip is correct.

 

I have spoken to MYOB Support person and they advised “ some issues cant be solved"  and that the old pay category may stay on the pay slip till end of June 2026!!

Hoping someone may have an answer for me .

    Hey Christine121,

     

    You’ve actually done all the right steps already. If a pay item has been used at any point this financial year, it will continue to appear as a separate line on the pay slip for the rest of the year. It automatically drops off starting from the first pay of the next payroll year (in your case, pays processed from July 2026 onward). The good news is it’s purely cosmetic. It won’t affect payments to the fund or anything reported through STP. If staff ask about it, you can add a short note on the pay slip template explaining that the line is from an older setup, will disappear next year, and that the totals are correct.
