Forum Discussion
Hi BreeDeCunha,
Great questions! These are very common points of confusion, especially during STP Finalisation and Reconciliation. Here’s a clear breakdown to help you confidently check your payroll:
Which part of the YTD Verification Report shows the total reported to the ATO?
- The "ATO reporting category totals" section of your YTD Verification Report displays the actual year-to-date (YTD) amounts that have been reported to the ATO for each ATO reporting category (such as Gross payments, Allowances, Lump Sum payments, ETPs, etc.).
What is the “Reconciliation to Payroll” Section?
- The "Reconciliation to Payroll" section, on the other hand, is basically everything from your payroll records added up, just like what you’d see in a Payroll Summary report. This shows the total of all pay items processed in payroll, but not all of these are reported under a single ATO reporting category.
In short: The number sent to the ATO gets split into those specific reporting categories, not the lump sum you see internally in your payroll records.
Cheers,
Princess
