Recorded Transaction Tax Codes Changing

Hello

It has been noted by my accounts team that the tax code changes on recorded transactions where the GL account is amended. The closed transaction will pick up the default tax code of the reassigned GL account where it is different from the originally posted transaction.

Example: a recorded transaction marked as FRE (GST Free) allocated to a GL account that is default GST (Goods & Services Tax) will result in the recorded transaction tax code changing to GST.

Is this an expected behaviour of MYOB AccountRight to change the tax codes when amending the GL account for the recorded transaction? I understand this is not best practice to amend closed transactions, and ideally a reversing and adjusting entry should be booked.

Regards,

Dennis

  • Hi DennisRichter

Thanks for your post. The tax code changing to the default code of the newly allocated account is the intended behaviour of AccountRight. This is because the tax code is linked to the allocated account not the transaction.
