Your File TPAR.C01 was received by the Australian Taxation Office. It contained errors that prevented processing it further.

The errors found are listed below. Please correct the errors and resend the file.

Reason: Line 9. The file contains non-ASCII characters. To lodge a file electronically you must first create a file that is generated from your software in a format and version supported by our systems. Scanned images or forms, screen prints, spreadsheets and word processing files (for example .pdf, .doc, .xls, .jpg, .tiff) cannot be lodged via the file transfer function on our portals. More information can be found at: www.ato.gov.au/filetransfer or contact your software developer.

        Hi Steven_Jacobso

This error can be returned if there are invalid characters in the file or the file has been manually entered.

Please Notepad ++ to find non ascii characters.

        1. Open the EMPDUPE file in notepad ++

        2. From the Search menu choose Find Characters in Range

        3. Select Non-ASCII Characters and click Find

Notepad ++ will then display where the invalid character is.

        4. Click on the top of notepad ++ application and the cursor will flash just after the invalid character. In the example below the invalid character is a SPACE.

        5. Repeat until all invalid characters are removed.

You can then fix the data in the  software and recreate the EMPDUPE file.

If you're unable to find the invalid characters or line, and your file is online, we can run a script to find those characters. Please send me your product serial number by Private Message if you wish to get that organised.
