invoice pdf too big

Can someone please review the Accountright PDF generation with an aim to reduce the size of invoices (Print or Save to Disk)

--

For years, my invoices generated from Excel / LibreOffice were generally around 40kb for a single page with a simple logo.

My bookeeper created an invoice template with the same business logo and a tiny little bank logo next to the payment details.  The generated PDFs were 1.6MB    Using LibreDraw, I was able to identify a significant contributor was the bank logo at about 1MB shrunk down to about 20 pixels.

After removing the bank logo the invoice PDF files are still around 350kb.

I tried several pdf generation tools including CuteWriter and Microsoft PDF Writer.   CuteWriter has the ability to customise output resolution paper size etc.

I discovered the best outcome is to open the Invoice PDF with FireFox browser then print to a new file. The file size is now down to 95kb.

There is no loss of clarity, resolution is fine, text is selectable.

I believe the PDF library is CairoGraphics.

Please feel free to contact me for more details.

    Hey shift7

Thanks for your idea! We'll be sharing this one with our product teams and have updated the status to open for other members of our community to vote and add weight to your idea.

  • Same here, I was on AccountRight (off line) for 15 years and my Invoice PDFs were only around 50-60kb, after switching to online AccountRight Plus, (without changing any of my templates) they are now 2MB, so annoying.   MYOB please look at fixing.
