Basic Accounting Question

New to accounting software full stop. Have always used a basic spreadsheet for my small business. 

We are a manufacturer, the question is:

Do I put my ingredient expenses accounts (I have several to add) under a cost of sales header or expenses header in the chart of accounts.

Hello @Marmalade 

 

Welcome to the Community Forum.

 

 

From the sound of it you would put this under an expense account, however for the best possible type of account to put it under, I would advise you to speak to your accountant.

I have attached a Help Article on the Accounts list which does detail what the accounts are generally used for.
