Changing the name of the COS Header account

Can I change the name of the header account 5-0000? I have removed the COS account name but now I can't put in the new name that I want. Is this possible?

Hi @PaulineD1 

 

Thanks for your post. Yes you can change the name of a Header account by clicking on the account name in Chart of accounts>>type the name in the Account name field and Save. If this isn't working for you, are you getting an error message? Can you provide a screenshot of the error?

Hi Tracey, Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately I seem to have lost the account number and the ability to click into the Header Account details. I know how to change the name on accounts once I can get into the account details. But with the COS Header 5-0000 I can access that field at all.

That should say I CAN'T access the account details field at all.

Hi @PaulineD1 

 

In your screenshot you're in the Cost of sales tab, can you please select the All accounts tab and look for the cost of sales accounts. Because the account number and name have been changed it looks like the COS accounts have been moved out of order, check the bottom of the accounts list.
