However, if I later do a separate super run as you suggested with the reversal pair, do I still run the risk of the positive amount going to the super fund, even though the net balance of these transactions is zero? How can I be sure that MYOB won't send the positive amount (as you've alluded to) and then I have a bigger problem? Is there another way to cancel these amounts out, is it something that MYOB is working on by any chance to counter these issues? Because there would be a lot of payroll reversals happening on a regular basis and these super amounts and the reversals will be all just sitting there in our databases. Thank you Pay Super negative amount I am processing the quarterly Super payment for one employee. During the quarter, I processed a pay, then had to reverse it as something was wrong. This was done successfully, with no issues for that. Now, when I open up the Pay Super Window to pay the Super Liability, both the original incorrect super and the reversal super amounts show up and obviously cancel each other out. My question is: When I process Pay Super through Myob, do I need to check both the positive and negative amounts, or do I ignore these. What is the flow on affect to the super fund if I send through the negative amount? The total Payable super is correct, whether I tick these 2 transactions or not, but do they then stay as unprocessed super payments forever in my database...Could they accidentally be ticked at a later stage... and then show up as a delayed payment which is not accurate anyway as they cancel each other out? Please inform best practice for this. Thank you Re: why does myob pay super take so long Yes, it's definitely a problem, especially with Pay Day Super looming in July. I used to use the ATO Small Business Clearing House in the past, and they were slow too, so maybe it's across the board in the industry and it needs some tidying up or streamlining or better integration. How do we determine who is at fault here?? Is it: the middle man (MYOB Pay Super/ ATO Clearing House)?? Or, is it the Super Funds themselves that may not be processing as efficiently as they should be? Does anyone know of a Super clearing house where their super payments are processed within 2 - 3 days and it appears in the Member's account within that timeframe too?? Either way, for Employers, Bookkeepers and related parties, if we are to keep up with the legislation, the mechanics of pay day Super through our accounting software need to be a lot quicker and more streamlined, otherwise the Super deadline dates may as well be a week earlier to make sure that compliance is happening. Re: Authenticator code always errors Hi MYOB I have a problem with my Authenticator. I recently purchased a new phone and successfully put MYOB on the Authenticator on my new phone. It comes up with recurring different numbers when I'm ready to log in to MYOB, but it doesn't work! My old phone's Authenticator is how I am still getting into MYOB, but I really need for it to work on my new phone. My phone number is still the same, as is my email address. p.s. how hard is it to start a new post on this community forum?????? I don't post very often, so I was looking everywhere for an easy way to click a link or start a new post for this problem. I'm sure it wasn't this hard in the past!!! Re: MYOB payroll register and STP Finalisation report don't match prefilled figures in ATO BAS Hi I have exactly the same problem. I reversed a pay, then re-entered it correctly. All YTD MYOB STP amounts match to every employee perfectly, but the month I did the reversal (August), shows a discrepancy in the ATO Pre-fill report for IAS. The amount that the ATO is out by is exactly the difference between the 2 pays that were corrected. Is it still appropriate then to override the ATO Pre-fill amounts and enter with the MYOB amounts? Re: Death of Employee Hello, I did pretty much the same thing however I still processed all outstanding leave through the deceased employee's payroll account, but paid out the money to the next of kin's bank account. At the time, I checked this info with the ATO and looked up a page they recommended to help: type in QC27088 and it will take you to info on deceased employees. Initially, I had asked different accountants how to deal with it, one thought you had to still take out tax, so check your facts because this is not the case. As you said, no tax or super but upon looking into this further, it is just a non-reportable wage payment because of the death. I had originally put it in as an ETP death benefit, but upon advice from a professional bookkeeping body, learnt it is not an ETP. You do need to set up a new wages/ payroll category, something that lets people know it is unused leave upon death, but importantly, you assign it as Not Reportable. Unfortunately, I did it wrong at first (assigning it as an ETP Death benefit payment) so I had to go back and reverse the original pay I processed, and re-enter it under a newly named wages category that was assigned as Not Reportable. So, I ended up naming it: Unused Leave NR_Death-(Name of Employee). (There’s not a lot of room for long names in the categories fields!) Looking at my STP ytd summary report, it clearly shows amounts for the employee as follows: Total gross payments (made pre -death) PAYG W and Super amounts (made pre-death) The unused leave upon death does not show in my YTD Verification report or my Employee’s payment summary report as it is Not Reportable and I am told this is the correct way. Also, ensure that this amount is not included or pre-selected for lodging your BAS/IAS. In addition, there might be a time limit for you to pay this out (I think it's somewhere between 6 months to a year) or it can be treated differently with the ATO. I am not sure if a large amount is owed whether that makes a difference too. In my case it wasn't exorbitant so I followed the above rules. Remember too, that your state's workcover laws may not need for you to include the ETP in your Remuneration declaration, but any gross earnings and super made pre death are still to be included and declared (in my state anyway!) why does myob pay super take so long I have started processing Super through Myob as a trial, after using ATO Super clearing house for many years. I only processed one company's supers through MYOB, the other companies I work for, I continued using ATO Clearing house. I processed these all on the same day, and whilst the ATO Clearing house has already paid out the super to the corresponding employees, MYOB Pay Super is nowhere to be seen. The amount came out of the bank a/c 5 days ago! Going forward, how often is this lag in payment going to happen? What happens when we have to start paying super every payroll period as per the new tax laws?? Re: death of employee Unused leave Mike, I was not asking for how to process this final pay. I have already researched and know what I need to do. It's in respect of how to reduce the leave entitlements to zero once they have been paid out. It's not like your usual Uunused Leave when an employee leaves a company and you can link the unused leave payment to the holiday accrued entitlement. death of employee Unused leave Tried calling MYOB and after wasting more than one hour the person was unable to help with processing unused leave entitlements. Then she said I will put you through to Payroll, even though at the intial conversation step I had asked: Have I come through to the Payroll help department? When she put me through to the "proper" payroll department, MYOB had closed up shop for the day. Please MYOB, put on specialist Payroll staff who understand Australian Payroll laws and guidelines. Still no closer to getting the help I need, and the no, the community forum is not helpful either. I need to talk verbally with someone who can show me how to transfer the unused leave entitlements to the correct category of Death Benefit - ETP tax free.
