Current Balance not matching bank balance

I can't figure out what has happened but one of my bank accounts has a current balance $3473.48 more than the actual balance. I unreconciled back to May but if I look at the reports it seems like the balance is now out for all my bank reconciliations back to before the financial year which is bizarre when it all balanced before. Two other things - I am with BNZ which changed bank feeds and had to reconnect, plus I entered this account manually until the end of July when I went to automatic bank feeds to match my other account. I have checked for duplicate transactions, and done everything I can think of but I just can't figure this out - I can't reconcile my account now. Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi SamNZ1351,

Thanks for laying all that out. I know how challenging it can be when the balances don't quite line up. A couple of things you can try:

    • First, double-check if there are any duplicate or missing transactions around the time BNZ updated their bank feeds. Sometimes those sneaky ones slip through.
    • If you manually entered anything at the end of July, make sure those aren't doubling up with the automatic feed.
    • Also, running an account reconciliation report as at the last date you know it matched up can help you spot exactly where the differences kicks in.

Here's a link that might also give you some pointers: Fixing out of balance bank reconciliations.

Since you've already gone back and checked quite a bit, if it's still not lining up, it might need us to run a script on the file to tidy things up. Best bet would be to jump onto our live chat support through our virtual assistant, MOCA, or submit a case via MyAccount and we'll check the back end for you.

    Regards,

    Sai
