in doing a journal entry why is an account not able to be used

HI All

I am completing the tranaction journal as per the accountant. One of the accounts to be used will not come up in the drop down. Is there a reason for this? What is the solution so I can use it?

    Hi mk71

Thanks for your post. In selecting an account when doing general journal entry, kindly make sure that the account to be used is still active. To check this, go to Accounts > Accounts List > Click the zoom arrow of the account to be used > Check if the account was set to inactive, if yes, untick the Inactive Account. Please refer to the screenshot I attached below.

If you need further assistance please send a screenshot of the account and journal so that I can assist.

      Hi Doreen

      Thank you for you suggestion.

Unfortunately this account does not allow me to change it from active to inactive as this area is "greyed out" and inactive.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated

      Thanks

        Hi mk71

Thanks for your post. As per the screenshot, you will use the account 3-9000 for Current Year Earnings however even though you already set the account to be a Detail Account, the Inactive Account is still greyed out it is because the account 3-9000 Current Year Earnings is a Systems Account so entry cannot be posted on that account. I highly suggest to select a different account. To know which account to use, kindly speak with your accountant or financial advisor as they can provide you which account to use. Let me know how it goes.
