DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ACCOUNT RIGHT AND BROWSER VERSION ON P&L CASH REPORT

When I run a P&L Cash report in Account Right on Desktop I get very different COS and GP figures compared to the same report run in the Browser version. Markedly different! There doesn't seem to be a difference between the two versions when I run an accrual report.  This is very concerning as the accountant only uses the Browser and I mostly use the Desktop.  Each transaction seems to be the same, but there is a massive difference in reporting.  Surely we can all agree that it is extremely important that both versions produce the same information. Can someone please explain why this is, and which version we should be relying on. Thank you

Thank you for clarifying that I can rely on the Desktop version.  I do see it as a problem though, that the online version, therefore, should not be relied on!  We all pay a considerable amount for our MYOB subscriptions, and it is not unreasonable to expect that either version will be correct.  I haven't as yet gone through the GL for both versions, but I will.  A quick look though, shows that each individual transaction is correct and identical in both versions, so there must be some issue with the reporting mechanism - which, to be honest, is not great!  I do hope this can be rectified. Thank you though for your swift response.

  • I have the same problem, I have checked accrual v cash & all transactions.

clearly MYOB has a problem which is unacceptable.

I have other accounts which have no issues.

The support offered had no new solutions. I continue to have reservations with MYOB.

Maybe Zero can offer a better solution.

    Hi SherylMack,

    Thanks for raising this.

Well, you’ve spotted one of the differences between the Desktop and Browser versions of AccountRight—P&L Cash reports often show different figures because they pull the data in slightly different ways. The good news? You can rely on the P&L Cash report in the Desktop version as it’s designed to be more accurate for cash-based reporting.

That said, it’s always a good idea to check your General Ledger (GL) reports as a precaution. Sometimes mismatches can happen because of:

    • Transactions coded to the wrong account.
    • Missing links between payments and their corresponding transactions (like a sale missing its COS).
    • Dates that don’t align properly, affecting which period a transaction appears in.

A quick scan of your GL can usually catch and fix any unusual entries causing these issues.

You can also reach out to our team for further information. You can reach them on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA or by submitting a support case via MyAccount.

    Regards,
    Earl

    Hey johnthorn,

When the Profit & Loss in AccountRight Desktop doesn’t match the browser, a quick win is to double‑check the file’s financial year and make sure the report’s running in the right year. If the file’s sitting in the wrong year, it can throw off the desktop view while the browser stays fine. While you’re at it, pop into the general ledger and confirm all transactions are allocated to the correct accounts, as miscoded or unallocated entries can skew the P&L report. As you've already checked accrual vs cash and the transactions, once those two are squared away, refresh the desktop P&L report and compare again.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

The browser has the correct totals & final profit but the major expenses are not detailed in the browser.

The header is categorized as Cost of Sales but the sub categories( expenses) not detailed in the browser.

I’ve tried your suggestions but regrettably not yet solved .I’ll keep trying.

    Thank you very much.
