Verify version

Good day. I just got hired as an assistant under the accounting department. I was tasked to handle things using the MYOB application and, along with it, the task of updating the application.

The problem is, the previous employee who handled the job already quit, and I couldn't get in touch with him. Rumor has it that he passed away already. Now I am stuck here and couldn't check what version I am using. I had done some research and went to the MYOB website. However, I don't even know which one to choose, as I don't have any clue what I have.

Attached is a screenshot of the welcome screen of my MYOB. I hope you can help me identify which MYOB product I have so I can somehow proceed and make an update. Thank you very much

Hi Fireman26 , if it only has a registration number, then the next step is to call MYOB and discuss how to upgrade.

Prior to the introduction of serial numbers, it was possible to use MYOB programs unlicensed, ie without paying for them.

The equivalent software right now is AccountRIght Premier, desktop version. (Browser versions exist but are not as fully featured).

I suggest you discuss the plan with your supervisor, that is you plan to call MYOB, give them your registration number and company name, and ask their advice about upgrading. They will send you a quotation, note that today's programs all require a subscription. Obtain approval before taking any action.

The program might work on Windows 11, but you should really not be using such an old program.

Hi Mike_James . Yes, I agree with you there that its already an old program. I tried looking ways how to contact MYOB other than voice call, however, I can't find any email for support. I tried their Facebook page and sent them a message, they did responded but their answers were not close to what I am seeking as they are sending me links where I can seek help rather than helping me directly. Their responses were all links that points to the download site, contact support , which I already visited before getting in touch with them.

Another thing, you don't happen to have an ancient copy of what I have or knew someone who still has a copy of the MYOB Premier for Windows Version 3.1 that I can copy.

I just wanna test it using a virtual machine if it will work with Windows 11. I'm thinking, before our office grants me an approval, I am thinking that they would probably asked me how sure I am that what we have will not run under Windows 11.

I am thinking, by presenting a virtual simulation, I can somehow show and prove to them whether or not the MYOB version that we have can run under Window 11.

Keeping my fingers crossed on this one. Hope you can still help me find an ancient copy. Thanks.

Hi Fireman26 , I'm an NZ partner so I don't have old AUS versions. Frankly I think you would be wasting your time dealing with old unsupported (unlicensed?) versions, and putting your company data at risk.

MYOB support is available via phone, live chat and submitting support requests via your account (which you don't have). The Australian phone support line is 1300 555 123 (per Contact us - MYOB Support).

    Hi Fireman26

Although this is definitely an old version and vulnerable, you may be able to make it work on Windows 11 by COPYING the whole programme folder over to a new computer and finding the Myobp.exe file (a version this old may have a different executable file name) and send this to the Desktop and try to open from there. You would need to copy the data file over as well. You may need to change properties on the executable file to run it in an older Compatible version and there may be other Properties that need changing but it's worth a try.

    Cheers

    Liz
