Does MYOB payroll automatically process the tax to ATO and super contribution to the nominated Fund?

Hi,

I am a brand new user of MYOB. I am new in accounting space. I have a question about whether MYOB can automatically process the tax to ATO and also the super contribution to the nominated Fund. I am new in the accounting world trying to establish a small business on my own. I have heard that one needs to go to their tax agent(accountant) periodically with employee playslip data to process the tax amount to ATO and Super Fund., i.e About every 3 months or so, Is this correct? My understanding was that everything would be completed (including transferring the tax amoun to ATO and Super) when we process the payroll.

    Hi Bhola,

Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Community Forum. I hope you find plenty of helpful information.

My apologies for the late response. It's great to hear that you're setting up a small business and using MYOB for your accounting needs. I highly appreciate your effort in reaching out regarding this matter. Allow me to help you with this.

To answer your question, yes, MYOB does have features that can help you with tax and superannuation contributions. For tax, MYOB has a feature that can automatically calculate and lodge GST. This feature reduces GST errors with pre-filled tax records sent directly from your software to the ATO.

As for superannuation contributions, MYOB offers a super portal that allows you to make contributions and easily meet your employee super obligations. This portal is free with your MYOB product subscription. You can process your payroll using your MYOB software and create a super contribution file, which you can then upload to MYOB's super portal. The contributions are then deducted from your nominated bank account. We recommend checking out this helpful article on superannuation, which will give you full details on how super works in MYOB.

However, it's important to note that while MYOB can automate these processes, it's always a good idea to consult with a tax agent or accountant periodically to ensure everything is in order, especially when you're just starting out. They can provide you with personalized advice and help you understand the nuances of tax and superannuation laws.
