Payroll Activity Report does not balance to the STP submitted in ATO

Hi, I submitted a pay run (in fact all pay runs for the past year) but the Gross Wages do not tie up in these two reports. The Payroll Activity report is always overstated to what is reported to the ATO. The tax amounts are correct but its as though some elements in gross wages are not transferred to the ATO. All payroll categories have a valid ATO  Reporting Category. I have tried to isolate some items but am totally unable to reconcile the two numbers.

Any help in where to look would be appreciated.

    Hi AndrewKuyper

It sounds like you've done some thorough checking already. Since the tax amounts are correct but the Gross Wages aren't tallying up, here's what you can do next:

    1. Double-check the Payroll Register and YTD Verification Report to confirm if the discrepancy persists across those reports.
    2. If the issue is only with Gross Wages and everything else is in order, you might want to try sending an update event. This helps sync all figures being sent to the ATO.

Let me know how it goes or if you need further assistance!

    Best regards,

    Doreen

    • Thank you for the reply, The YTD Verification report, Payroll Summary and Payroll register all balance with each other at the Total Salary and wages as per payroll summary report level. The Gross Wages that appear in the ATO Wages (W1) do not match this number and I feel that it is not meant to as W1 represents taxable wages (so excludes allowances etc). I feel that the Total STP taxable wages on the YTD verification report should equal the amounts transferred to the tax office however it doesn't appear to. I am relatively new to MYOB but I must be missing a component

    Hi there AndrewKuyper

If the figures from the payroll reports match to it each other and the only issue you have is the W1 that is not matching, you can try to send an update event first then check the figures again. If still incorrect, you can speak to your accountant if you can manually edit the figures from the W1.
