STP reporting

Several of my pay runs reported zero amounts, yet the Payment Summary and GST Return report had the correct details on it.  Also all the payslips read correctly.

As I am the employee (only one), doing the bookkeepig, I checked my My.Gov account and it all reconciled.

Preparing the BAS today (for sole trader) the Payg Withholding did NOT match and reads only the amounts reported to the ATO and does not match my MYOB reports.   It is, however the amounts of the pay runs less the ones with the zero amounts.

The ato have advised me to just edit the Payg amount in the BAS lodgement.  This is all well and good, but I would rather have the stp reporting to the ATO be correct and that I don't have to spend time reconciling.

Can you please help me when I get zero amounts?

Cheers Anita

    Hi, anita2

    Thanks for your post.

You may check the payroll reports to know where the discrepancy is coming from. Please check the payroll, payroll register and YTD verification reports. Also, please make sure that each payroll category is assigned to the correct ATO reporting categories. If changes have been made, you can send an update event. For more information, you may check the Help Article: Assign ATO reporting categories for Single Touch Payroll.

Please let us know if you require further assistance.

    Best regards,

    Doreen

Thank you for your reply Doreen.
I have double checked the payroll register report and pretty much all other reports there are, and they all have the tax amount of $1285.00
STP Reporting will tell me which pays were accepted including those with a zero amounts with the regular and correct payslips & reports. Only in the STP Reporting is where there is a discrepancy. The zero amounts in the STP reporting occurred on 6 & 27 Nov and 2 Dec. You may have had glitches those days???

As mentioned, If I go on the ATO website to lodge the BAS does it say a different amount. My accountant said that he has seen this before with other clients and told me not to worry about it as long as I can recognise the correct report amounts.

Please note, there is only one employee (me) and no categories get changed, ever.

Perhaps there is just a glitch which may be able to be rectified.

    Thanks again for your reply.

    Cheers
    Anita

    Hi, anita2

    Thanks for your response.

Generally, the reason why a pay run shows a $0 amount under STP reporting is because when the pay run has been processed, it is a past date. In which case, it will ask you if it is an updated pay run or a new pay run. Most likely, if you chose the updated pay run, a $0 amount will be shown under STP reporting. If your payroll reports, such as the payroll register, payroll activity, and YTD verification report, have the correct figures, you can disregard the $0 amount shown in STP reporting.

    Best regards,

    Doreen
