Bill Numbers Changing

I am reviewing all bills under Purchases prior to finalising BAS and have found that the bill numbers are changing.

 

When I open a bill, review it (without making any changes), then select save than cancel, the bill number is changing to the next available number. However, if I cancel out without saving, the number appears to remain unchanged.

 

I have tested this in two different instances of the program, and it is happening in both.

 

If I attempt to manually change the bill number back to the original number, I receive the following message:

"There is a payment recorded against this bill. Are you sure you want to save the changes?"

    Could you please advise when the issue with invoice numbers changing upon opening invoices will be resolved?

    Invoice numbers should remain fixed once issued. This problem is causing significant additional administrative work for my business. Considering the fees we pay for MYOB, it's unacceptable that the system is creating more work instead of streamlining operations.

    This also raises serious concerns regarding compliance. In the event of an ATO audit, unexplained gaps or changes in invoice numbers could become a major issue.

    Please confirm if this issue is known and being addressed, and when a fix can be expected.

    I am having the exact same issue.  I have clients that use the Bill Number for specific purposes and every time you open an invoice and save it the Bill Number gets automatically replaced by MYOB.   To my knowledge no-one has asked for MYOB to do this as I have never seen a post for such an action.

     

    This action serves no positive purpose whatsoever but only causes problems for us, the users.  This needs to be fixed... yes, I said "fixed" because this is a fault in the system not anything beneficial to the user.

    For us, this action means that every time we open an existing invoice we then need to click on 'Save' and then before closing out of the invoice we need to go back to the top of the invoice and revert the Bill Number back to the correct reference and then click 'Save' again before closing the invoice.  This is a case of MYOB giving us more work to do.

  • And we're having the same issue, just noticed the other day that the numbers keep changing and then you lose the original one.

    That's so frustrating to be honest.

    Also, MYOB picks up wrong transactions for matching purposes and reconciles it without my consent. I've noticed that the description of a transaction has gone to be the description for another transaction. It really frustrates one.

    Hi PPP2620,

     

    Whenever you save a bill, the bill number might jump to the next in line, even if you haven’t touched any of its details. This seems to be because our MYOB likes to handle bill edits and saves using an automatic numbering trick, which picks the next number following the latest one used. Don’t worry, I’ve already flagged this with our product team to get it checked out. In the meantime, you can simply pop the bill number back to its original manually.

We understand this is causing extra admin work and compliance concerns, making it harder to keep things running smoothly.
