Invoice text in illegible characters

Hi all, just this evening my invoices are being generated in an illegible character set.  This applies only to the invoice-specific text, not the customer information.  Any clues about what might be the cause?

    It sounds like your invoice text is acting up. This could be due to a formatting issue. Check your invoice template settings, especially the font and language settings.
