Can't delete or inactive duplicate items as it says item has been used in transactions

I am unable to delete or inactive duplicate items as it says item has been used in transactions. 

For example 

Gate-kit-rail-pocket-picket and Gate-kit-rail-pocket-picket. are two same item codes. I use the later one. Whenever I quote it confuses me which one to use. Same is the case with many other items I have. It is really frustrating being unable to delete or inactive them because it is saying "cannot inactive or delete an item once used in a transaction".

 

What to do as I am really frustrated, every time I quote I have to go through the pain

    Hi shah-jahan 

     

    You cannot delete but you should be able to make the Item inactive. What version of MYOB are you using - see Help > About.

     

    Alternatively rename the item you no longer use by placing zz in front like zzGate-kit-rail-pocket-pick - this should put it at the bottom of the list, avoiding the confusion.

    Thank you gavin12345 for sharing your workaround for this concern and I would agree with that. Items that were used in a transaction cannot be deleted. With that, you can rename the items so that it will be easier to identify that they should not be used.
