Payroll Employee Limit

Our company has more than 50 employees and for the past couple of months I've had to split the pay run and process the first 50 employees in one pay run and the remaining in a second pay run.

It's not that it won't process everyone (I haven't attempted processing with the error), but when I click Next after entering everyone's details, the following screen (Record & Report) shows an error at the top "Checking pay run error. Try again". This message only changes to being successful after I untick employees so only 50 remain ticked.

I have checked our MYOB and it says we should have unlimited employees for payroll.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Carly

  • Hi Carly22,

I understand that you're encountering an error message when trying to process payroll for more than 50 employees in AccountRight. That's a bit strange, because your subscription should let you handle payroll for an unlimited number of employees. This error usually shows up when you save and close a pay run, then try to keep going with that saved pay run. There might be something off with the saved pay run that's causing this. I'd suggest checking your payroll settings to make sure everything's correct. I've also tried to apply some fixes to your file.

Next time you receive this error again, I would highly recommend getting in touch with our live chat. To get through to a live chat agent, you will need to get in touch first with our virtual assistant, MOCA, through myob.com/support. If MOCA can't help, you'll be automatically connected to our live chat team.

    Cheers,

    Hi Princess_R

That is exactly what happens - I save and close the pay run while another employee checks the payroll activity file against our timesheets. The pay run is also processed over 2 days, so as I have previously lost entire pay runs by not saving it's now a habit.

I will ensure I get in contact via MOCA if the error occurs again. Thank you for applying some fixes to our file and for your suggestions!

    Kind regards,

    Carly

    Hi Carly22,

Sounds like you have a solid process in place for handling pay runs and ensuring accuracy by cross-checking with timesheets. If the error occurs again, reaching out via MOCA is a good plan. You can also start a new thread here, and I'll be happy to assist.

    Cheers,

    Princess

    Hi Princess_R

I processed our pay run yesterday and the same issue occurred where I received the error "Checking pay run error. Try again" again when attempting to process all 56 employees.

I had to split the pay run again.

Can you please have another look on the back end?

    Kind regards,

    Carly

    Hi Carly22,

I understand that splitting the pay run isn't the best solution. I've applied a fixed script to your file to see if it resolves the error message. Please ensure that you are not saving a pay run and then closing it without continuing to process the pay to Single Touch Payroll (STP). This error can occur if you edit or continue to process a saved pay run.

If the error persists when you process the pay again, we will need to investigate further. I recommend partnering with our live chat support team. To connect with a live chat agent, please start by contacting our virtual assistant, MOCA, through myob.com/support. If MOCA is unable to resolve your issue, it will transfer you directly to our live chat team for further help.

    Cheers,

    Princess
