SUPERANNUATION SET UP - SPLIT PAYMENTS

I am setting up the superannuation information in accountright in preparation for super payments to be made once the pay has been processed weekly and two employees have two super funds that their superannuation guarantee is split and is paid into.  How do we set that up???

  • Hi esna

Split super isn’t super common, but it does pop up. AccountRight doesn’t let you pay one employee’s super into two different funds from a single employee card. The simple workaround is to set up a second employee card, link it to the other fund, then process the split across the two cards.

    Quick reminders:

    • Add/check both funds in Lists > Superannuation Funds and tick Pay directly from AccountRight if you’re using Pay Super.
    • Give the second card a clear name (example: “Alex Kim – Fund B”) and link it only to the second fund.
    • Use a unique member ID for each card/fund combo.
    • If both records show in one Pay Super submission and you hit a validation, authorise them as separate payments.

    Hi Russell01,

Great question, the two‑card workaround is really only meant for splitting the employer super guarantee (SG) between two funds. AccountRight still treats salary sacrifice super as going to one fund only, so it won’t automatically split one salary sacrifice amount across two different funds.

If the employee wants to sacrifice into more than one fund, the safest move is to check in with their tax adviser/ATO first about how they want it reported, and whether part of it should be handled outside the software so the contribution types and caps stay spot on.

For the general setup steps, here’s the salary sacrifice super help article: Set up salary sacrifice superannuation.

    Regards,
    Genreve
