terminating Employees

Hi Team

I have a lot of employees how are inactive and not going to return to work.

I have some who have been paid their termination payment including unsued leave entitments back in 2022 however they never had a terminated date put in their file only made inactive.

Other systems I've used you can't back date the termination date.

Can I put the termination date in the card file as the termination payment date (or last worked date for casuals) if in a previous period.

How would this impact STP 2 reporting?

    Hi LizzieF,

Thank you for your post, and welcome to the community forum. I hope you find it a great source of helpful information.

In this matter, you may enter the termination date from the card file, and make sure to enter the employee termination date under the STP reporting center.

Please let me know if you require any further assistance with this. I'm happy to assist.

    Cheers,

    Princess

Thank you for your response Princess_R ,

Sorry I must not have been very clear.

Can I back date termination dates and STP submittision in MYOB?

Example, today being the 27/09/2023 part of financial year 2023/2024

Can I put in the actual termination date and submit the STP for the 01/03/2022 relating to the prior financial year of 2021/2022?

If not what would be the best practice to finalise inclomple terminations and open employee card files?

      Thank you

        Hi LizzieF,

        Thank you for your response.

I appreciate you clarifying the situation. In this case, since MYOB STP reporting only covers previous and current payroll years, backdating the termination date is not available in the software. I would suggest processing a manual lodgment with the ATO to terminate your employee.

Please let me know if you require further assistance with this. I'd be happy to help.

        Cheers,

        Princess
