Job information on time billing invoices

I am trying out MYOB as a possible transition from our current accounting package. I am generally very happy with the functionality and have managed to set up most things. My issue is time billing invoices.

We have customers who have several different jobs, and we assign them a unique job number and detailed description. I can enter these jobs with no problem and link them to each customer. I can extract the time information by job number on each invoice.

What I can't do is get the job details to show on the time billing invoice. I need to have the "Invoice to" section populated by the customer information (done, easy) and also display the job number and details in another spot. I can copy these across as a comment field, but there must be a way to link and display this information automatically.  I have spoken with my MYOB adviser, and her only recommendation is to use the comments field manually.

I am open to suggestions on how to set it up. It may be that "jobs" need to be created as sub-level clients? (except I can't see how to do this either). Any ideas?

(I also can't create time billing invoices in the web browser version, which seems a bit limiting.)

    Hi KateSmith,

Thanks for reaching out and for considering MYOB as part of your transition. Ensuring job details appear correctly on your time billing invoices is essential for clear and accurate invoicing.

The best way to include job details on your invoices is through customisation. You can modify your invoice template in AccountRight by adding job-related fields to ensure they appear as needed. Time Billing reports has detailed information to assist you with this.

Regarding time billing invoices in the web browser version, MYOB AccountRight's browser access currently has limitations compared to the desktop app. You may need to use the desktop version for full time billing functionality.

If you need further help, it's best to reach out to our live chat support through our virtual assistant MOCA or submit a case via MyAccount.

    Regards,

    Sai

    • Thanks for the reply, Sai; however, it doesn't answer my question. Time Billing Reports does not advise how to add the information to invoices, only how to run reports. It seems to indicate that I can prepare a report showing specific job information but not add it to an invoice. If I need to print two separate documents each time I create an invoice, MYOB will not work for me.

I will submit a case and see if I can get some help. I did think a community forum might help me, though. I can't be the only business that needs this functionality.

As a further update, the support email went unanswered for five days and counting (not happy), but I eventually used the 1300 number, and the help was perfect. I was able to create a second custom table that has the three job fields displayed and add that to the invoice template. I thought it must be an easy fix and it was, when I got hold of the right person!
