Offline File Phase Out

Just got notification that Accountright Offline is being phased out 17th June 2026.

Well I guess we all new it was coming one day but the notification period is way to short and it would be very unfair to require those of us who can not run online to change accounting software so quickly and just before end of financial year.  It is OK to say goodbye but I would ask you make a clear option available to get us into the new financial year before enforcing this and clarify ongoing access to our own data.

I want to understand this line in the notification better

"AccountRight desktop isn’t going anywhere. The only change is that your company file/s will need to be online to receive product and security updates, support, and online services."

But this contradicts the line

"This means if your file is not online after 17 June 2026, you will not be able to open, edit or save your offline file. "

So we will we or wont we be able to continue using an existing/ older version indefinitely - noting the above limitations around updates.

20+ years ago I actually had an email from your CEO saying that MYOB would never do this when MYOB started the whole file registration thing.

Are you saying that unless we share are file with MYOB, we wont have a way to access our own data?

I just dug out the email.  It was from General Manager Andrew Fiori-Dea on 22 July 2004.  Not from CEO.

    Hey Lucky_Man

From MYOB AccountRight version 2026.5you'll no longer be able to open, edit or save files stored locally (in My Library or Network Library). This change will take place from 17 June 2026. To continue to access AccountRight, you’ll need an active MYOB AccountRight subscription and your company file will need to be online.

If you have an old offline file and would like to access your data, you can download a previous version of MYOB AccountRight (PC Edition, or can download and install Server Edition) from our website and use that to open, access, or interact with an offline file.

PC Edition: We currently host previous versions of MYOB AccountRight on our website, and we have no immediate plans to change that. Please note that due to monthly automatic software updates, you will need to download and reinstall that previous version of PC Edition if you want to access the offline file on an ongoing basis.

Server Edition: If you need to interact with old offline files on a regular basis, downloading and installing Server Edition will enable you to have offline access and it won’t be impacted by our monthly automatic updates.

Hope this helps, feel free to reach out if you have any further questions!
