Using offline version of MYOB AccountRight Standard v19.1

I don't want to go to the online version as we have a very small business and looking to retire in the next couple of years. I have downloaded the MYOB AccountRight Standard v19 but am unable to download the Standard v19.1 update (I'm not sure if I need it or not). When I try to open the program, the message tells me:

"This app has been blocked for your protection.

An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information, contact the administrator.

Myobe.exe"

I have added myself as an administrator and can't remove the SYSTEM administrator. I don't know what I need to do next. I can't get through to speak to anyone at MYOB support. Can anyone help me, please?

    Hi Vicki

I just want to double check the version/s you have been using because you mention 2019 so I want to be sure you are using Classic v19? If you are definitely using this version, then I can only suggest that you need to change where you search for the *.zip files when you go into Restore. Perhaps you could copy the .zip files into the same folder as your current file which is where the Restore tool defaults to but be very careful when you restore any files to make sure you don't accidentally overwrite your current file as I said. There is also the option to change the file type at the bottom of the Restore dialogue box from AccountRight Data (.ZIP) to All Files (*.*) which shows all file types. If you have been using v2019 and have reverted back to Classic v19, then you won't be able to restore the 2019 files because the versions are incompatible. Let me know if this doesn't resolve your issue.

    Cheers

    Hi Vicki

Your original post said you don't want to go to the online version so now I'm wondering what version you have actually been using before downloading the ARS version 19? The only reason you would need to change anything is if you were on a version that automatically updates i.e. 2026.4 and there are ways to stop the update for this. If you were already using an earlier version that doesn't automatically update (pre v2021.1), then you can continue using as is and don't need to go back to older versions.

    Cheers

    Hi Liz,

My computer recently crashed and I had to buy a new one and download the app again. All I know is that I originally had ARS v19.1 but there isn't one. The only options I have are v19 or v19.8 and I can't download the v19.1 update as I mentioned before. My most recent backup file seems to be incompatible with either version.

    Regards, Vicki

    Hi Vicki

The Administrator block on v19.1 update is a Windows security thing. I recently had to install Classic versions on a new laptop and the only way I could bypass the Windows security was to use my original CD's. I have gone through my collection of CD's and I have one that includes ARS v19.1 so if you send me an email at mailto:[email protected] then I can send you a link via MS OneDrive to download and install from a copy of the CD. Based upon my recent experience with Windows, you should be able to install v19.1 without hindrance.

    Cheers

    Liz

    Hi Liz,

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually still have a CD of ARS v19.1. I will give it a try first.

    Regards,

    Vicki
