Verify version

Good day. I just got hired as an assistant under the accounting department. I was tasked to handle things using the MYOB application and, along with it, the task of updating the application.

The problem is, the previous employee who handled the job already quit, and I couldn't get in touch with him. Rumor has it that he passed away already. Now I am stuck here and couldn't check what version I am using. I had done some research and went to the MYOB website. However, I don't even know which one to choose, as I don't have any clue what I have.

Attached is a screenshot of the welcome screen of my MYOB. I hope you can help me identify which MYOB product I have so I can somehow proceed and make an update. Thank you very much

Hi Fireman26 , you won't find anything about that version in the support channels. You don't mention whether you have tried to open the file, this would be the first thing to try.

Hi Mike_James. Thank you and I really appreciate you spending time and effort on this. To be honest, its only my first week on this job and I could really use any kind of help I can get. The thing is, the pc where the MYOB App is installed currently runs under Windows 10. They want to get ahead of the slated EOL of Windows 10 this October and switch to Windows 11 as early as possible. I don't even have a clue to begin with if the MYOB version that they have will run after the Windows upgrade. I tried your advice that my MYOB happens to be one of the 3 old family and visited MYOB support. However, I can't seem to find a perfect match of what version I am running. Forgive me for my ignorance and lack of ideas. This is only one of so many things that they needed me to do. Again, thank you for your assistance.

PS you have an old version of MYOB Premier, one of 3 in the old family (Standard, Plus and Premier. Premier is the multi-user version with extra options like multi-currency. If that option has been used, you will have to subscribe to the same current version.

Hi Fireman26 , if you select "Open your MYOB file", with luck it will open the last used folder, and you should see a data file, in the name of your business, with an extension .prm. If there's more than one, look for the most recent.

See if you can open it. The default username is Administrator, no password. But if you know a password, use that. If the file opens, select Set-up, Company information, and make a note of the serial number. Then call MYOB and ask for help with upgrading. Current programs are only available on subscription, so they will send you a quote.

If you can't open the file, make a zipped copy of it, then call MYOB and ask them to remove the password and ask for help with upgrading.

    Post back with results.
