Why are Software companies afraid to tell the truth ?

Passwords - if you need us to update a password, just say so, but don't tell us its wrong and default us to the reset. Just be honest.
What about this chestnut in the image below - updating later is not an option, so why is the option even presented on the screen?
Why not warn us it the first window that this will need to occur and we can copy paste logins etc. Every day there is another straw, loading up the camel....its not that hard to be honest

    Hi RuJoking

Thanks for the screenshot. It's definitely a frustrating experience to be provided the 'Update later' button but their isn't actually the option to update later.

Close to all files/customers now receive the updated versions automatically via a silent installer and should never see this screen at all.
We don't have a plan to change this for now due to the silent installer experience.

I am checking with the developers now to confirm about the password experience here.
I haven't been aware that we would incorrectly tell customers their password is incorrect just to have them update it, but I will seek clarification just in case.
If this is happening, then ideally I might be able to provide some justification why.

    Regards, Mike

    Hi RuJoking ,

I'll attach a screenshot below to make sure we are talking about the same thing.
But in this flow and screenshot, when the password is incorrect, the first advice is to try again, with an additional hyperlink for help signing in or resetting via forgotten password

I have team members who have been using the same password for years in this screen so it is definitely not a process of deception to force updated passwords.
