I see quite a few people have already complained about the removal of offline backups. My question to MYOB (the company) is why has MYOB removed this option? Every year we're charged more for our subscription and they justify this by adding more features, which I generally don't use or find any use for. Why then remove a single feature that practically everyone uses? Yes you can backup to MYOB's servers, but that's just adding to their cost, and it seems they don't keep it for that long. MYOB just seems to be making it harder for themselves and alienating users. I would like to see offline backups restored.

Okay AmandaMYOB let's break this down. For clarification my file has been online since the requirement to do so with payroll reporting to the ATO. Your first point about improving performance is incorrect, as offline backups have nothing to do with the performance of the program when it's open. The other part of that statement about improving security is against industry best practice that requires several backups stored in separate locations. I don't see the point about offline backups having anything to do with current supported technology. If our file is online then it's getting the frequent improvements. The offline backup is there in case of emergencies. As to the last point about industry best practice, please provide me with the documents that state that, and that having multiple backups stored separately aren't best practice. As to the needs of MYOB's customers, seems most of them aren't happy with offline backups being removed. Now answer me this, what happens if MYOB's servers and backups are taken out? How then do we restore our data file?

We are currently moving 18 client files to Xero and now MYOB can't even let me get a backup to complete THIS task for the conversion half way through aha What an awful company MYOB has become in the last few years.

Not only have they removed the offline backup, what's worst if you try open the backup file from their server, it restores over your current file!!! What is the point of the backup. I am so close to moving all my clients to XERO.

Thats all good, but why can't I open a backup file without overriding the online file. MYOB need to listen to what the clients want or you are going to lose them to either Xero or Quicken!!

If your client still has their subscription, and wants offline backups for conversion purposes, suggest you get in touch with MYOX Services, they might be able to help if MYOB can't or won't.

You can override your current online live file by restoring an old backup OR download an old version of PC edition or install Server Edition and restore the backup locally (offline). More details can be found on this post.

Followed the steps as per your instructions and got this message. Tried opening the myob file even after 20 mins ...so such luck.

This is exactly the type of issue MyDataXport was built to help with.
