Can't export reports to Excel

I have not been able to export Myob (desktop version) reports to Excel for a couple of weeks now.

I just had a support call from Myob and instructions were sent through to make adjustments to the Microsoft.NET Framework. These instructions were followed but the reports still won't export to Excel.

Myob has also been uninstalled and reinstalled.

The reports will export if I open the file online, and Xero and Reckon reports (also online files) also export to Excel without issue.

Can anyone please help? It is not practical to open the online version every time I need to export to Excel and many hours have now been spent unsuccessfully trying to fix the issue.

Thank you.

  • Hi CathS-BW , do you have a diagnostic log that we can see (produced right after trying to export to Excel)?

Have you run a quick or online repair of Office?

Hi Mike_James , I am running a repair of Office now (thanks for the suggestion) and will clear the cache too once that is done, then try again and post the diagnostic log if it still fails.  Thank you!🤞🤞🤞

    Hi again Mike_James

Repaired & uninstalled everything & rebooted a couple of times (Myob, Office etc) and it is now working, THANKYOU!!

I should have come straight here instead of going to Myob for help & waiting several days and then not being helped (the instructions they sent only go up to Windows 10 but they said they would work for Windows 11, and they certainly did not fix my problem!) 🤨

    Thank you again!

Same issue - I canexport reprts to PDF but not to excel.  Everything else works fine.  Will look at running a repair however given everything else works fine, it is repeatable - pds alwatys save, Excel hangs it feels more like an MYOB issue than a local one.

Hi matupitu , the quick or online repair works in many cases like this. It's not an issue with the core AccountRight program, but with the link to Office.

Close AccountRight and Office.  After doing the repair, open Accountright and try again.  If it still doesn't work, then reinstall AccountRight.

  • Since the last MYOB upgrade Jan 2026, I can no longer export to Excel. It just thinks for a second and then does nothing.

This is a crucial part of our business - can this please be fixed asap?

    Hi SDee,

Exporting to Excel is a big part of how you keep things running, so when it stops working after the Jan 2026 upgrade and just sits there thinking, it's not what you need. You can run a few quick checks to get that Excel export talking to AccountRight again:

    • First, make sure you're using a supported, locally installed version of Microsoft Excel 2010 or later. Excel Online or LibreOffice will not work with AccountRight exports.
    • If Excel was installed after AccountRight, reinstall Excel first, then reinstall AccountRight. That refreshes the connection between the two.
    • If clicking Export does nothing or it's greyed out, try opening AccountRight by right-clicking its icon and choosing Run as administrator. If exporting works in that session, reinstall AccountRight by right-clicking the installer and choosing Run as administrator so those permissions stick.
    • If you have recently changed anything with Office or Windows, run an Office Quick Repair as that often restores the Excel integration.

Once you've tested those steps, give the export another go and if it's still not working, you can reach out to our team so they can check what's going on. Make sure to contact them on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA, or by submitting a support case via My Account.

    Cheers,

    Doreen
