Direct debits - payments from customers

Hi there

Does anyone know how I would go about setting up a fortnightly direct debit payment from various customers? I have tried setting it up as a supplier ABA file (as it wouldn't let me choose customer), however when I processed in the bank it made a payment instead of requesting a payment. Does the ABA file payment amounts need to be in the negative?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

  • Hi vidario (vidario1)

Thank you for your post. The function to create an ABA file is to allow users to pay suppliers or employees into their bank accounts using a bank file. This is only possible when you want to transfer money to other bank accounts, it won't work the other way around.

If you want to be able to withdraw by direct debit, you'll need to make arrangements with another provider, as that is not possible to do with AccountRight at this stage.

Thanks for confirming that this isn't possible in Accountright.

In the meantime I've found another solution that works.

    Hi

In the end I entered them individually as recurring payments in Westpac Online, to correspond with the recurring transactions in MYOB.

That was easier than mucking around with ABA-files.

    Cheers

  • Hi Vidario,

As a work around you have manually setup direct debits on banks website and need to add/remove/alter them manually.  I imagine this would be time consuming if you had 50-500 direct debits.  Until such time as AccountRight has the ability to create a direct debit ABA file, I use an Excel spreadsheet program called "ABA Creator"  available on the net.  It creates an ABA file for Direct Debits on your computer ready to upload to the bank and doesn't rely on any third party provider with customer information/details.  Hopefully in the future creating direct debit ABA files will be inbuilt into MYOB.

    thanks

    Correct.

Thankfully I only have ~15 direct debits so this workaround does the job for me at this stage.

    Thanks

  • Hi, can I please ask you to give me an accurate answer? I have looked at the marketplace and contacted several of the providers. They can't sync with Myob. Which integration allows for a delayed direct debit?
