Cloud MYOB file slow - purging of Data

Good Afternoon All

Our MYOB in the cloud is running particularly slow, especially when doing transaction reports, or say Summary BAS report for example.

I think I need to purge data, to free up the compacity/speed of our MYOB.

If I take a backup prior to doing this purge;  should I need to look at data from the period which is purged where do I restore this file to enable me to view this data as obviously I cannot restore into my live MYOB?

Thankyou

  • Hi LDOG,

Sometimes, slow performance can be due to things like your internet connection or cache issues. If you're considering purging data, make sure to back up your MYOB file first. This way, you can always look back at the data if you need to. Remember to restore the backup file locally, so it won't overwrite your current data. • Hi LDOG

There is no doubt that performance in AR2024 drops as the file gets larger, esp report generation.

As with earlier versions of MYOB (eg v19), you can save a pre-purge copy of your MYOB file and make it read-only and use it when you need to look up a transaction that had been purged. If your MYOB file is help online, you can keep the read-only copy in your local library - ensure you give it a clear file name and change the Company Name under Setup > Preferences, making it clear this is NOT the live file. If working on the online file, you can open another instance of AR2024 and open the local read-only copy to look up what you need.

However unlike earlier versions of MYOB (eg v19) AR2024 does NOT have a purge function. The only way to reduce the file size is to purge old transactions, and the only way to do this at present is by using MYOX Services - they have software that purges old transaction data. This reduces the file size and improves performance.

    Regards

    Gavin

Thank you Gavin we will explore this option and contact MYOX to see what the costs are of purging the old data.
