MYOB claims bank reconciliation errors, despite past printed reconciliations showing no errors.

Can't say I'm impressed with the help options; I have no idea if this is the appropriate place to lodge this query - maybe a mod will move it or....?

Bank reconciliation:  I print each month's reconciliation, so I have every month up to July 26 reconciled and recorded.  Now, MYOB says there is an error in every reconciliation back to July 2025.  The amount of the error varies, but is usually only a small amount.  I can't figure it out!

  • Hi agtronixjv,

It must be confusing to see these variances now, especially when you’ve kept each month’s printed reconciliation, and they were showing as balanced at the time.

Based on what you’ve described, this may be caused by a future-dated bank reconciliation. Please make a backup of the file first, then:

    1. Go to Banking > Reconcile accounts and select the affected account.
    2. Enter 30/12/9998 as the statement date.
    3. Select all transactions shown.
    4. Enter the calculated closing balance as the closing statement balance, so the out-of-balance amount is $0.00.
    5. Complete the reconciliation, then undo or unreconcile that future-dated reconciliation.
    6. Check the last reconciled date. If needed, undo one more reconciliation so it’s before the date you’re trying to reconcile, then try again.

For general guidance, see Fixing out-of-balance bank reconciliations.

If the issue continues after trying this, it's best to reach out to our support team so the file and its reconciliation history can be checked further.
