Reconciling 2 bank payments

Hi,

recently struggling with staffing and under a bit of pressure I short paid a customer by $1000 but remitted the full amount to the supplier.

I made a balance bank transfer to the supplier but now have two bank transactions against one remittance. Myob seems to not like this and I can't reverse or delete the payment in myob, nor can I reconcile in Bank feeds. I would be grateful for any help.

  • thanks for your assistance here, I ended up having to call Myob Support and they were able to provide a simple solution that I half got right.

    1. Issue was that I had made a "Pay Bills" Payment for multiple Invoices from one Supplier.

    2. In my banking portal I short paid them by $1000

    3. I discovered this later and made a further payment of $1000 to balance the remittance I had sent.

Result: this left two transactions in my Bank Feeds Screen and one transaction in the Bank Reconcilliation

    Fix:

    1. 1. Go into the Bank rec and tick the record
    2. 2. Move to the Bank Feed and Right click on the two records and select Hide transaction. I now have a balance.

Many thanks again for all the suggestions and help

    Hi Aquafresh,

Thanks for sharing the screenshots. I can see those transactions are grayed out. That error means AccountRight is treating this as a supplier deposit linked to a recorded purchase, rather than a regular Pay Bills payment. The article explains how to handle this in the Supplier Deposits guide.

The two bank withdrawals, $2,337.40 and $1,000, add up to the $3,337.40 payment recorded in AccountRight. Only record a refund if the supplier actually returned the money. The guide has different steps depending on whether the deposit is being refunded, so check the section for your situation before changing the bill or payment.

If you are still having trouble deleting this, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can help further.

    Regards,
    Genreve

    Hi Aquafresh,

With everything else on your plate, it’s easy for a split transfer to create a bookkeeping tangle. In this case, AccountRight has one supplier payment for the full amount, while Bank feeds is showing two withdrawals, so it can’t quite join the dots between them. If the full supplier payment recorded in AccountRight is correct, the cleanest option is to hide both bank-feed transactions and manually reconcile the single payment. If you’d like each withdrawal to appear as its own match, first unmatch or unreconcile the existing payment, then recreate it as two supplier payments and match each one separately. If Delete or Reverse isn’t available, that depends on whether the payment has already been reconciled and on your security settings. This MYOB guide covers the first option: Multiple bank transactions relating to one transaction. If you have any more questions about this, you can contact our support team through the Contact Us page.

    Cheers,

    Doreen
