Change of ABN and STP

Hi,

A client recently moved onto a new ABN but decided to use the same MYOB file due to re structuring . However, they didnt do the rollover process correctly for STP and now, STP reporting has doubled up for the employees from the old ABN and new ABN. The new ABN shows the total payroll figures in STP when it should only show for September. This is because the ytd figures from July and August has flowed through to the new ABN since the YTD figures were not updated in the employees' profiles during the changeover. The client wants to show the July & Aug STP figures from old ABN and the September to show from the new ABN but it is from the same MYOB file. If we are to do any pay run adjustments, it will affect the payroll balances in MYOB although it may fix the STP. Do you have any ideas to how to fix this?

Thanks,

Kinpel

    Hi Kinpel97,

    Thank you for your post.

First, what you should have done is to zero out your pay history and finalize your payroll with the old ABN before changing to the new ABN. This is to ensure that by the end of the payroll year, employees will have only one income statement from their MYGov. In this case, since it has doubled up the figures reported to the ATO, I would recommend contacting the ATO to inform them that you’re using a new ABN for your company file and no longer using the old ABN. You’ll also need to inform them that you’re unable to finalize your old ABN payroll reports.

Please let me know if you require any further assistance. I'm happy to help.

    Cheers,

    Princess
