Child Support Deduction Reporting

Hi MYOB community,

We changed our payroll software to MYOB Business in June and just received phone call from Service Australia that they stopped receiving Child Support reports from STP.

We investigated and found out that MYOB doesn't support Child Support deduction reporting through STP ?! So we need to manually send reports to Service Australia every month.

Before changing to MYOB Business we were using MYOB EXO Payroll for over 7 years in which Child Support deductions can be reported through STP. So MYOB can technically achieve the function but they just choose not to. But why? It creates extra workload and inconvenience for the users.

I've searched the forum and found that this issue was raised 3 or 4 years ago but until now it's still not solved. Can someone advise when this issue will be solved? Or are there any other ways to report Child Support Deduction other than manually sending reports to Service Australia?

Thanks.

    Hi Didi_He,

Totally hear where you’re coming from. If you’d like to push this forward as a product suggestion, the best place is our AccountRight Ideas Exchange board. That’s where our product team looks at feature requests and workflow improvements, so it’s the right spot to raise the need for child support deduction reporting through STP.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

    Hi Doreen,

I understand that child support can be set up and deducted through payroll. My point is, just like what you said, they still need to be reported to Services Australia separately which adds extra workload to users and adds chances to get it wrong. Since child support deductions can be reported through STP and MYOB has realised this function in Exo Payroll, why does MYOB decide not to push this function to all its platforms? From the forum I can see users have been asking for this function for years but MYOB just keeps ignoring it.

    Hi Didi_He,

I can see why that would feel like a step backwards. child support deductions can be set up in MYOB and deducted through payroll, but they still need to be reported and paid to Services Australia separately. You can check the current setup guide here: Child support deductions.

    Cheers,
