I have very historic (up to 10 years ago) amounts showing as outstanding superannuation. These have all been paid through external online superannuation clearing houses. is there a way this can be cleared so the MYOB Business dashboard reflects the correct superannuation payable figure?

Totally hear you, and that concern makes complete sense, especially when your client is handling their own Pay Super and there’s a real risk of accidentally clicking something that shouldn’t be paid again. At the moment, yes, there isn’t a built-in way to remove those amounts from showing there, which is why this has come up as a product suggestion in the Community. We do have an Ideas Exchange post for this, and it’s a great place to add your vote so the dev team can see the demand and keep it on their radar.

I can't believe there is no way to get rid of these amounts appearing. My client's superannuation liability is correct, but these amounts still show up in the "pay super" part of MYOB. I am concerned my client, who does their own pay super, will accidentally click on these amounts to pay.

Totally get why those ancient super amounts on the dashboard are bugging you. There isn’t a way to clear or hide those old outstanding super amounts that were paid outside the software. They’ll still show in the history, but you can ignore them when processing any new super payments and just focus on the current-period amounts going forward.
