Hi Shella_A Sheila, I know it's too late but I have this same issue and it goes back to payroll in 2021. The settings are correct and the recent payruns are also correct, except the old ones. The calc rate is lower than the hourly rate. What caused this, we need to understand so we know how to explain to the employees.
Hi GMABW1234,
Seeing a lower calculated rate on a pay slip than the hourly rate (especially on older pay runs) isn’t ideal, and your team deserves a clear explanation because no one wants their pay to look wrong. Most of the time, those old runs look off because of how pay items were set up back then. It could be a pay item with an exemption applied, the employee’s Standard Pay pre-filling the run, pay items using a regular rate × multiplier with “Automatically adjust base hourly/base salary” ticked, or even a known display issue from that period. Honestly, we can’t say for sure without checking the file, but those are the usual reasons the calculated rate doesn’t match the hourly rate.
Cheers,
Princess

Hi there
I am having an issue with a pay run. I have paid this person countless times with no issue but in this payrun that I scheduled because I am on leave there is a problem. Their base hourly rate is not what was calculated on their payslip. The AL and AL loading rates are as they should be but their base hourly rate has recalculated to a random amount that is LESS than their rate of pay. I have checked all the troubleshooting points above and I can see no reason why this has occurred.
Can you please tell me how I can fix this?
Thanks

Hi JPSinfo,
That's definitely a weird one, especially if you've paid them heaps of times before with no dramas. I can see why that'd be confusing while you're trying to get a pay run sorted on leave. A couple of quick things worth double-checking:
- Have a look at employee's pay history for that run and see if the base hourly rate has been overridden on the payslip itself.
- Check the pay item setup to make sure the base hourly rate hasn't been updated or duplicated with a different rate.
- If this was a scheduled pay run, it can also help to delete the draft and re-create it to see if the correct rate pulls through again.
If all of that looks spot on and the rate is still recalculating lower than it should, it's likely something going on behind the scenes that'll need a closer look. Best bet then is to jump onto live chat support through our virtual assistant, MOCA, or submit a case via My Account so they can check the employee record and pay calculation in detail and get it fixed up for you.
Regards,
Sai
