Rehire Employee

I have an employee in my payroll whose contract ended. I processed their termination, completed EOFY for them, and marked their card as inactive.

Now, after about a month, the same employee has re-joined us. Could you please guide me on the correct way to add them back in MYOB? Should I reactivate their old employee card or create a new one, considering EOFY has already been lodged?

    Hey anurag_periwal,

You can either reactivate the old employee record by removing the termination date and updating their payroll details, or create a new employee record if you prefer a fresh start for their new employment period. If you create a new record, you’ll need to edit the name in the old employee record first (for example, add “old” or similar), since MYOB doesn’t allow duplicate employee names. If you’re reusing the old record for an employee who was terminated and finalised for EOFY in the same payroll year, you’ll also need to undo their Single Touch Payroll (STP) finalisation before processing new pay runs. Make sure to check this link for more info in reinstating an employee.

    Cheers,

    Doreen
