Were you able to check which payroll year you are sending an update event to? If the same error message appears, you can process a $0 pay run. You can date the $0 pay run as 30/06/2023 and make sure to include all the impacted employees. Lastly, when processing a $0 pay run, check all the pay items to make sure that there is no amount entered.

If I understand correctly, the key thing darrellm is trying to do is to notify the ATO of Previous BMS ID. This can only be done by Edit STP Business Details - this submits an Update Event. However this step does not allow the user to specify the FY they want changed - instead it uses the current payroll year, which is 2024. I found this out the hard way in July 2023 after payroll for July 2023 has been processed - MYOB changes the payroll year in the background to 2024.

So sending a standard Update Event or $0 pays for FY 2023 will not achieve what darrellm needs. Someone at MYOB needs to fix the Edit STP Business Details step to allow the Previous BMS ID update to be submitted for a specific year chosen by the user..

Others have tried this and had the Previous BMSID update Rejected as the BMSID was used in the 2023 FY not the 2024 FY.

If this has since been fixed by MYOB, please let darrellm  know how to submit the Previous BMS ID Update for a previous year.

Doreen...i have just now entered 0 pays after rolling back finalisation last Fridayas per your suggestion.

Problem now is one employee affected at 30.6.23 has been terminated in July so I am unable to enter a 0 pay for him now at 30.6.23

Do i still 'Send Update' to ATO and then finalise again ?

What now if not that ?

Have you seen reply from Gavin last Friday suggesting MYOB issue with STP ID updating 2023/24 not 2022/23 ?

Thanks for your detailed response and my apologies for the late reply. To process a zero-dollar pay, please ensure that there is no termination date specified for the employee. This will allow you to send an update event to the ATO.
 

Regarding the update of the BMS ID for two income statements, this change will apply to the current payroll year and retroactively affect the previous year. To remove this information from the ATO system, you'll need to get in touch with the ATO directly.

Earl...I have removed the termination date in MYOB for the one employee (ATO have not been advised of termination in STP) and run 0 pays for the three affected employees. Verification report balances with all summaries for employees. When i run 'Send Update' the following message comes up 

Dorren...thought i replied but cannot find it

'Cannot enter transactions before conversion date' and i could not continue

Not sure what the reference to conversion date is about and i have not added anything that was not there before

What does this relate to can you help please ?

Earl...updating my previuos post i have found the conversion date error. When i did 0 pays just today i entered pay  dates of 1/6 to 30/6/23 which is incorrect as our first pay after conversion was done on 2/6/23

Do i reverse these incorrect pays ? I have already entered corrected pays with dates of 19/6 to 30/6.

After reversing do i send update and see if all goes through without error message?

Reverse Incorrect Pays:

• You should reverse the incorrect pays that were entered with the date range of 1/6 to 30/6/23. This ensures that these payments are removed from your records since they were not accurate.

Enter Corrected Pays:

• Enter the corrected pays with the accurate pay dates of 2/6/23 to 30/6/23.

Send Update:

• After making these corrections, you can send the update to ensure that the corrected pays are processed without errors.

Here's a summary of the steps:

• Reverse the incorrect pays with the incorrect date range (1/6 to 30/6/23).
• Enter the corrected pays with the accurate date range (2/6/23 to 30/6/23).
• Send the update to process the corrected pays.
