Welcome to the Community, and nice work jumping in on STP. It can definitely be a bit confusing the first time around. An STP update event just re-sends the current year‑to‑date figures for your employees to the ATO, so it’s what they use to fix things like duplicated or incorrect PAYG summaries. It doesn’t create another pay, it just updates what the ATO has on file. Here’s how to send an update event in MYOB Business:
- Go to Payroll > Single Touch Payroll reporting.
- Make sure you’ve selected the correct payroll year the ATO is asking about.
- Go to the STP Reports tab and choose Send update event (don’t run a new pay, this just sends the latest YTD figures).
- Select all affected employees, continue through the declaration and send.
That will push the current YTD figures from MYOB Business through to the ATO and should help them sort out the duplicate PAYG issue.
