Update Event

Hi, first time posting and first time having to do an Update Event. We are a small business and have recently switched from Accounting Plus to Business. We have now been requested by the ATO to provide an "update event" due to the duplication of PAYG summaries.

How do I do this? #0# fill required on update event.

Any information greatly appreciated.

    Hi Stirloa,

Absolutely! You can check all the options for contacting our support team here. Hopefully one of those options helps you get the update report you need from the old file.

    Hi @Stirlo147,

Welcome to the Community, and nice work jumping in on STP. It can definitely be a bit confusing the first time around. An STP update event just re-sends the current year‑to‑date figures for your employees to the ATO, so it’s what they use to fix things like duplicated or incorrect PAYG summaries. It doesn’t create another pay, it just updates what the ATO has on file. Here’s how to send an update event in MYOB Business:

    1. Go to Payroll > Single Touch Payroll reporting.
    2. Make sure you’ve selected the correct payroll year the ATO is asking about.
    3. Go to the STP Reports tab and choose Send update event (don’t run a new pay, this just sends the latest YTD figures).
    4. Select all affected employees, continue through the declaration and send.

That will push the current YTD figures from MYOB Business through to the ATO and should help them sort out the duplicate PAYG issue.

    Regards,

    Sai

  • Thanks for your reply Sai, however the ATO needs the update report from our old software, AccountRight Plus which is read only, therfore I cannot process an update report. Apparently I have to contact MYOB. Is there another way I can contact MYOB regarding this issue?
