Variable Rate for Guides - "Trip" rate

With the discontinuation of Ace Payroll, I'm starting the process of moving to MYOB.

  • I currently pay my guides (tourism company) per "trip"
  • Each trip is 4-5h typically
  • Up to two trips per day
  • Two different types of trip possible (different rates)
  • Additional hourly rates payable some days depending on duties

In Ace, I just had a "hourly" rate for each trip which was equal to the full trip rate, and would pay 1 unit of the relevant trip. I could then add on additional hours (at a stand hourly rate) as needed. I can't seem to see a way to duplicate that in MYOB Payroll. Any suggestions on how to approach this in MYOB Payroll? I'm starting from zero knowledge here!

For clarification, I'm moving to MYOB Business Payroll (the online solution) rather than MYOB Payroll (Desktop)

    Hi caveraft

Takes a bit to get used to, but you can do this in Business Payroll. You can mirror Ace by setting up one Earnings pay item per trip type (example: Trip A, Trip B). Then set a custom rate per employee on their Standard pay, or just override the line rate in the pay run when it varies. Units and rates are editable in the pay grid. Add a separate hourly earning for the extra duties. Here is a guide on how to do it: Setting up Pay Items / Payroll Categories
